Asplenium australasicum, commonly known as the bird’s nest fern, is an epiphytic fern native to Australia, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific Islands. It is known for its striking rosette of large, bright green, wavy-edged fronds that grow from a central, nest-like base.

  • Soil: Well-draining, rich organic mix (e.g., orchid bark + peat + perlite).
  • Temperature: Prefers warm temperatures (18–30°C); avoid cold drafts.
  • Fertilization: Monthly feeding with diluted liquid fertilizer during the growing season.
  • Propagation: Grown from spores; division is not an option since it lacks offsets.

Ecological Importance:

  • Provides shelter for small animals and insects.
  • Helps maintain humidity in rainforests by trapping moisture in its fronds.
